Their autocannon just isn't practical for engaging ground targets. KA-52s could be countered by moving up IR based missile buses or just turning off your radar. Still, Supercobra based SEAD is undeniably one of the best offensive helicopters in the game now. Marines had a good blend of helicopter-launched rockets and ATGMs, hunter killer recon gunships, upvetted ATGM, rocket, bomb, and SEAD planes to use, so you could deploy an entire spectrum of counters against air defense simultaneously without ever requiring helicopter based SEAD. The AIM-9 was passable for self defense and overwhelming enemy radar units with existing doctrine was already perfectly doable. On the other hand, though, your powerful fleet of attack helicopters can be turned back now and permanently grounded by a single cheeky MI-24V. The SEAD capability is a huge boon to your AH-1Js, super cobras, and sea hawks. I don't know what to say other than you're damned if you do and damned if you don't (unless you're into that kind of thing). Welcome to the wonderful world of masochism marine decks. I see why you were having to rely on supercobras to kill enemy helos now. They needed to either cost 100 points or be rerolled to fill another role- which is what Eugen did.

They couldn't keep up with AA helicopters and they costed as much as the most high end gunships in the game despite having little more capability than a mid range attack helicopter. It always either:ġ) didn't kill anything because it missed one or both of its missilesĢ) Missed both missiles before ever even seeing a helicopter because the enemy buzzed your supercobras with a plane and forced them to waste their impractical and limited ammunition supply on a SU-24 or SU-27PU. DAPs can pound-for-pound match any AA equipped chopper in the game. You should be using DAPs and OH-58s to counter chopper rushes anyways. However, Eugen’s track record (in addition to the above additions, it’s patched in a new gameplay mode, more maps, and continued balance tweaks) makes it very plausible that we’ll see future additions along these lines.Last patch.

Going forward, I’d still like to see more options to handicap the game or customise victory conditions.

Wargame was worth it at full price, and it’s definitely worth it at 40% off! Meanwhile, my recommendation for the game’s target audience (folks who enjoy PvP multiplayer) hasn’t changed. by restricting yourself to units of just one nationality. (Think one of the better Total War games, or, well, most strategy games.) And there’s a fun way to enhance the challenge – play with a themed deck, e.g. The skirmish AI still offers less challenge than an experienced human player, but it plays well enough to make me work for victory. You can now do comp stomps, and you can now unlock new units by playing the skirmish mode or comp stomps (albeit more slowly than through PvP).
